23rd May’ 2008 – Friday began just like another day at office. Some guys engaged in the work with their heads stuck in the laptop screens…. Ladies as usual doing chit-chat…. few others trying their luck with the coffee machine…A group of people engaged in official gossip which they call as Meeting. All in all...Time witnessing just one more routine day with a blend of hope, aspiration, anxiety, anger, aim and sense of achievement.
I got a call from my uncle at about 10 a.m. informing that my aunt (my mom’s sis) had just expired. Everything changed in a moment for me…it reminded me of how uncertain and temporary this life is…
When I looked around…I could see smiling faces…free from worries…some engaged in work…When I looked closely…everyone seemed to me like a soul attached to a body…ready to leave it…with angel of death waiting for command… All of us are so deeply engrossed in the materialistic world that we never take a pause to think of what are we doing? Why are we here? And what is the purpose of our lives?
Spending Monday to Friday – 9 to 5 at office…doing work…laughing…sharing jokes…eating…having fun with friends and family members…getting old day by day…. and suddenly one day – a day the timing no one is sure of…we die… Is this purpose of our life…Some smart people try to formulate it themselves…Doing charity, helping each other in the way they decide and so on the good things…as the ultimate purpose of life…and the reason for doing so…they decide themselves or blindly follow others…then be it their parents, teachers, priests etc…
Is this all we are created for?
Is this all the entire universe with all its complexity, beauty and sync created for?
Is this all the sun and the moon created for?
Is this all the beautiful birds created for?
Is this all the mountains, the rivers, the trees created for?
Or as some other may think…its all by chance…. Any logical person will deny it…This entire universe with all its complexity and perfection cannot come on its own…Isn’t this a hypocrisy when we are not ready to accept even a small object like a cell phone to come on its own…We immediately think of someone who created it…. then how can we accept that this entire Universe has come on its own…Of course we must admit and acknowledge the fact that there is a Creator who created all this…Every created thing has a creator...
We must accept it that we are created not to take birth and die and do what we feel of doing and a purpose we decide of ourselves but for a purpose that our Creator knows best…and no one but He can decide What’s and How’s for us…
After performing rituals, we started off for the graveyard…with my aunt’s body in the coffin supported by shoulders of people walking… How amazing the cycle of the life is…. We start off from a drop of water when two individuals unite…and then we are given a shape of the best creature in the world…we come in this world…open the eyes…and see the world around on which we are so dependent…we start walking…running…thinking…. talking…shouting…we enjoy every bit of the life as a child…We then step into youth…. love…romance…relationships…work…. arrogance…proud… And then starts the phase of decay…we lose our hair…memory…strength…We again become dependent on others and then one day…we close our eyes… We get some reward or punishment of this world for what we did…and that’s it. Some are even not that lucky to get through complete cycle…they die as a child…and in youth…the timing no one knows but He…
Is this life all about? Certainly No…This world cannot be the end of the story…Then how come the GOD is just when He created one as blind, deaf and dumb and other person as healthy and rich to enjoy the life…Had this life been the only world for us, all of us would have been favored the same way…for God is Just…The imbalance is for a purpose and is needed to test and judge the human beings for their actions…The powerful will be tested with how he uses his power, the rich will be tested with how he uses his wealth and so on…
When we placed the body inside the grave, I took a close look at it…. A 6’ by 2’ in plane and 4’ deep…and that’s it…the home where one will be alone….away from the family and the friends…so dark it would be…We strive so much to get comfort in this world…We plan, we work to make this life better which we are not sure of as how much remains with us…
Few questions came to my mind….
Is it wise for me to strive only for this world where I will be staying for some time…OR
Is it wise to struggle to make the life hereafter a success…which is never ending
Is it wise to live a life with rules and rights as defined by me, which I think are correct, OR Is it wise to follow the commands of the Creator, the purpose and the rule, the guidelines as He has set forth…
Is it wise for me to strive only for brightening the house here that is so temporary OR
Is it wise for me to lighten up my house in the hereafter with good deeds as commanded by my Lord?
Is it wise for me to find my lord in the idols, objects etc. which I have created or created by someone OR
Is it wise for me to worship the Lord, God Almighty, the most powerful in front of whom I have to stand one day…
Is it wise for me to blindly follow what my parents and their parents followed? OR
Is it wise for me to acquire knowledge, think with open mind and accept the truth – Islam and obey the God Almighty – Allah…
The answers are with you only…and the guidance is from Allah only…. so strive to find the truth and have courage to accept it….and save yourself and your family from the hell fire which is the worst place to be….where one has to reside forever…no death will come and no relaxation will be given in the punishment…
May Allah guide us and help us to be ready for our next house…where life will be eternal…so whosoever gets heaven will enjoy it forever and whosoever gets hell will suffer the pain forever…
If you have any comments or questions then feel free to write me at ahmed.dalvi@gmail.com …
I cannot change faith of any one…I cannot guide you….I myself need guidance from Allah….I can just present the facts before you and then its between you and Allah to decide for what you want for yourself… "Knowledge is not enough, unless it leads you to understanding and, in turn, to wisdom" May Allah help us understand His message and obey his commands…for He only knows what is best for us and we do not know…
